Situated in beautiful Wuhu—a state-level open city, Anhui Technical College of    Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is a public higher vocational college directly affiliated by the Education Department of Anhui Province.

As the earliest vocational school in Anhui province, the precursor of the college, Wuhu St. Aloysius School was founded as early as in 1935. Now the college is National Cultivating Vocational College, National Advanced Unit of Vocational Education, National Short-supplied Technical Personnel Training Base, National Numerical Control Base for Practical Training, National Training Center for MIE—3D-CAD Training Base, Backbone Teacher Training Base for Secondary Vocational School of Anhui Province. It is also equipped with National Career Appraisal Center, Training and Examination Center of Special Job-takers and Labor Service Personnel for Export.

　　Finding a foothold in Anhui, facing China and the world, the college adheres to the cultivating principle of the integration of school and enterprise and the continuity of skill training to develop higher applicative talents with high-level skills to serve for the local economic development and the adjustment of industrial structure. At present, the college has the department of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information engineering, numerical control engineering, automobile engineering, human science and management, basic courses teaching, ideological education, physical education and training center. Its 11,000 full-time students are distributed in 30 specialties. Based on the motto of “improving morality, practicing skills, caving out a way and making dedication to our country” and its running principle of “to survive with qualified students and to develop with characteristics”, the college devotes itself to training the students’ ideological and ethical standard, vocational skills, comprehensive quality and innovation ability. It also adheres to the service-centric and employment-oriented idea to constantly deepen the educational reform, push forward the quality engineering, strengthen the connotative construction and improve students’ employment competitiveness.
        The college is renowned for its devoted and experienced teachers, among whom 75% enjoy “double-titles” certificates. At the same time, a large number of senior scholars and engineers are appointed as part-time teachers. In addition, the college has modern teaching instruments, practicing equipment and cultural and physical facilities. In recent years, the college clears further its school-running position and features, improves its running conditions and comprehensive teaching strength.
        In the past 75 years, the college has cultivated 40,000 excellent talents for our society. In recent years, the demand for graduates from this school has been exceeded its supply and the employment status kept above 97%. Here the students have made remarkable achievements both in national and provincial skill contests and won quite a few gold and silver medals in the National Game of NC Technique and Robot Contest.
